Paper pieced Thomas

Just thought i'd show you the card I have made for a cute little 2yr old Thomas fan. Everything is cut or punched from card, the only bit of stamping is the sentiment, and I finished the facial features with a black pen.

Challenges i'd like to enter:
Here come the boys - diecuts/punches
Crafty Catz - male card (optional number)

Hope you're all well & happy xx

made a few...

Hello, hope everyone in blogland is well and happy :)
I have a few cards to show you, hope you like them.

This first card has been made for a lad at work who's fiancee is expecting a baby boy in December. Mo's spit happens digi is my first port of call for baby cards, I love it, and has been coloured with promarkers. The spotty paper is dovecraft back to basics, and the pretty scalloped border around the image was made using Nellie Snellen fancy dies (daisy)...

challenges:
Craft your Passion - for a baby (challenge 112)
Cards for Men - going digital
Papertake Weekly - things that make you go awww

Next up, is this card, made for my Mom. I love this Kanban roses stamp, I coloured with promarkers this time, but it's just as lovely coloured with watercolours too. The background paper was a freebie in a mag. I've used the Nellie Snellen daisy border again on this card, love how it frames the roses...

challenges:
Kaboodle Doodles - flowers
Totally Gorjuss - pink & green

The following card was inspired from a craft mag using the free papers within it (Prima Botanical collection). I really loved the simple but striking example inside the mag and thought my Mom would like it too, so decided to make a similar style card. I'd already made her a card from myself and hubby, so this card was made for my Son to give to her...

challenges:
Lexi's Creations - Autumn Colours
C.R.A.F.T challenge - Autumn

The next card was given to my Sister for her birthday on Tuesday. The Precious Moments image, yep you guessed it, was coloured with promarkers ;)
The sentiment was a freebie from tlc creations, isn't it lovely? The spotty paper is by Stampin Up.
If this image was a photo of my Sister and me when we were little, there would probably be a spider or an earwig inside that flower that she was offering me to sniff! She was never scared of bugs and crawlies, unlike me.

challenges:
Allsorts - layers
The Poodles Parlour - Here come the girls

Well, that's it for now, i'll be back soon, i'm working on a few more cards at the moment. Ciao for now xx

Friday 17 August 2012

Hello!

I'm still enjoying my blogging/crafting break and spending time with my family, I feel really rested and happy, despite the fact that my main desktop pc is kaput at the mo.
I haven't completely given up card making though, and have made some cards over the past couple of months, mainly for family and friends, which has been nice to do.

I have been busy in my craft room this week actually :)

This card was needed quickly to wish good luck to a friend who is starting a new job, an easy, quick design was called for. The kraft cardstock is by Basic Grey, the green and mustard ones by My Mind's Eye. The lucky clover is simply 4 stamped hearts. The sentiment in the centre was free with a craft mag.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges at:

Sentimental Sundays - Clean & simple

The Paper Shelter - Clean & simple

MMCS challenges - Kraft it!

This next card is pink and girly, and sure to please, especially if the girly receiving it has a sweet tooth ;)

I used some Stampin Up products for this card ('crazy for cupcakes' stamp set and some of the papers), the cupcakes were stamped onto patterned papers first then again onto plain white for the creamy toppings,

I'd like to enter this card at:

Cupcake - The great cake off photo inspiration

Onto my next card, this was fun to make. I used My Mind's Eye papers and this fab 'Madison Attitude' Kenny K image, coloured with promarkers.
Then I added a cute little handbag charm just beneath the handwritten 'auntie' sentiment. The flower and scalloped circle embellishment/sentiment finished the card.

I'd like to enter this card at:

Digi Doodle Shop - Use a charm

Allsorts - going around in circles (i've missed the deadline, but wanted to link it anyway)

This card, i'm not too sure about, maybe I should have arranged the top two thirds of this card differently? because the bottom third i'm quite happy with.

I pleated the HOTP soft nostalgia paper, added a scalloped border above that and then some pom-pom trim on top of that, love the outcome.
The image is of course a Magnolia.

I'd like to enter this card at:

Little Miss Muffet challenges - scallops

This is my final card to show you tonight, my brief was to make a card for a man who is young and works in a bank......YIKES! what on earth do I make?
so I made this and hoped that the added strip of numbers and the ledger style backing paper (Basic Grey) would be suitable enough, and luckily it was, the card was a hit, but I think it was secretly the stars that swung it though lol...

Well that's it for me, for now anyway, I'm hoping to get my main computer fixed after the school holidays so that I can access more images and papers, and of course my own designs too.
Hope you've all had a lovely summer, enjoy the rest of the school holidays.
Love, Jo xx

My last DT card...

It's Saturday morning, 8am, so it must mean that it's time for a new Sketch Saturday challenge, yet this week sees my last DT card as a Saturday :(
I will miss SS very much, it's been a constant in my life for the past 4 years.
I'm so grateful that the blog will continue each week (and I've had a sneaky peek at some of the upcoming sketches designed by Jen and omgoodness you are all in for a treat!) I shall definately be joining in as a challenger when I have some time to, like lots of you, SS will be my first port of call when I want to enter a challenge :)

This weeks challenge is sponsored by the ever fabulous Simon Says Stamp and you could soon be treating yourself to a whopping $25 shopping spree in store if you're this weeks challeneg winner!

Here's my final DT card...

This card uses an image from Kenny K, Madison Attitude. I coloured her with promarkers.
The pink cardstock has been embossed with my swiss dots folder and layered onto kraft cardstock which i've also used throughout the card. The 3 different papers are all from Nitwit Collections, which were freebies from a craft mag and have been sitting in my drawer waiting to be used.
The flowers and leaves were made using a mix of punches, the flowers finished with a crystal flat back gem.

There's more beautiful creations from the Saturdays on the blog, where you'll also see the brilliant card from Sarah-Louise, guest designer for May.
And remember, Sketch Saturday are having a DT call, so if you fancy being a 'Saturday' yourself, email Susie with your application. Further details can be found on the blog. Good luck! xx

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Passion for Promarkers - special birthdays
Shopping our Stash - use 3 or more deigner papers
Charisma Cardz - pink and girlie
Crafty Catz - happy birthday

Thanks for stopping by today, have a great weekend :)

Gotta love Gus

I finished this card last night, i'm trying to get the cards I need for the next couple of months all done before I take my crafting break. The card is for my boss, Don, who turns 50 this month. The staff have all chipped in for a pressie, and I offered to make the card for us all to sign...

Don is a keen golfer, and is up for a laugh, so 'Gus Golf' from Bugaboo is perfect, not only is it a funny golfing image, but as it is digital, it means it can be resized to make a larger topper for a card that approx. 20 members of staff will be signing.
I coloured Gus with promarkers and sponged the sky behind him with bashful blue SU ink. I printed Gus out twice so that I could layer him onto the base image for a bit of dimension.
The sentiment is computer generated and coloured with pm's too.
The '50' is a hand cut 5, layered onto kraft, and the 0 is a punched circle which has been prodded with a ball tool to try to get a golfball look, Hmmm, not sure that I like it now, so I may make another ball using an embossing folder for a better effect.

EDIT: I have changed the '0' ball, I used a tiny bubbles embossing folder on a piece of white card before punching out the circle. I'm much happier with it now :)

Challenges i'm entering this card into:
Here Come The Boys - hobbies
Cute Card Thursday - one for the boys

Hope he likes it!

Susie's sketch

Sketch Saturday may be having some changes in the near future, but this week has the same format, is DT week, and it's the turn of Susie to provide the sketch, and a fab one it is too!...here's my card...

We're sponsored this week by Kenny K, woohooo!
We were given images to use, I have used Allura Von D and have coloured her with promarkers.
The papers used are all by Echo Park from the collection called 'little girl'
all I did next was add silver mesh to the corners and gems to the left of the image.
I haven't added a sentiment yet, but it looks fab without one anyway.
Great sketch Susie! thank you xx

We're joined this month by Sarah-Louise, who has made such an amazing card to kick start her month as guest designer. Please go take a look on the blog, you'll see some beautiful cards made by The Saturdays, some of which are the last ones they have made as a member of the DT.

Thanks for looking, hope you have a great weekend and bank holiday, i'll be spending mine decorating!

Jo xx

A crafty sabbatical

After many hours mulling it over, i've decided to take a little break from crafting for a while, it also means that with a heavy heart I have decided to step down from the running of Sketch Saturday.

I love that challenge blog, and I love all of the Saturdays that I have had the pleasure of getting to know and work with over the past 4 years, and of course not forgetting all of the wonderful guest designers and fantastic sponsors that I've also gotten to know and respect. SS has also been truly blessed with the best, most talented challengers that are out there in Blogland, and long may it continue, because Sketch Saturday isn't closing *hooray!* it will be run by
Susie, Jen & Lizy! Wooohoooo! HUGE thanks go to those fabulous girls for saving SS from closing.

I will be leaving SS officially after next weeks challenge (#207)
In the meantime, Susie, Jen & Lizy will be settling in.
I can still be contacted regarding SS issues upto 12th May, but it may be a better idea to contact either of the girls direct if you need to ask anything regarding future challenges, of course I am happy to forward on your messages :)
I wish the girls all the best, and send them my love and thanks too xx

Thanks also go to all The Saturdays (past and present), the sponsors, guest designers and of course the challengers that have made Sketch Saturday a very special challenge blog.

Lots of love, Jo xx

What vile weather we've been having eh?
the wettest 'drought' ever ;D

It's time for another sketch saturday chalenge, this week we're sponsored by the fabulous The Craft Barn where you can spend a generous gift voucher if you are our lucky winner :)
Here's my card...

The image is by Fizzy Moon, and has been coloured with watercolour pencils.
I think this image is fabulous, it's perfect for my Dad who does actually nod off to sleep with a book or a newspaper in his hands lol.
The text and striped papers are are from my Kanban male backgrounds CD, I adjusted the contrast of the blue papers down a bit to get a darker shade.
The navy blue cardstock has been embossed with my argyle folder.
The birthday wishes sentiment is by SU, from their fun and fast notes set, 'Dad' is handwritten.

Thanks for stopping by today, have a fab weekend xx

Saturday 21 April 2012

The stamp is 'Martini Nikki' and is one of those available from Pages of Memories, coloured with promarkers.
Papers are by First Edition (Bird Song)
Sentiment is from a SeeD mini clear stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by today, to see more card yumminess please go see what Maria and The Saturdays have made this week :)

Have a great weekend xx

Emma's 22nd

My daughter will be 22 on the 23rd.
*sigh* I feel old.

Decided to make a stepper card for her this year,
and to keep the colour palette quite neutral, so I got out my bashful blue papers from Stampin Up.
The image is by Kenny K, coloured with promarkers
I stamped the letters to spell 'daughter' with memento ink and coloured them with my bluebell promarker, before carefully cutting them out. The number '22' was made using a template.
Hope Emma likes it.

Challenges entered:
ABC challenges - N for neutrals
Digital Tuesday - Birthdays
Crafty Creations - Flower power
Charisma Cardz - Fancy Folds
Card Crafters Circle - gentle pastel colours
Prairy Fairy Fridays - Anything goes
Sweet Stampin - Girly, but no pink

Armchair Bear

It's Saturday morning, and by now you know what that means...
A new Sketch Saturday challenge :)
and this weeks challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp

My card this week...

The image is of course by Lili of the Valley and is called Armchair Bear.
It's a perfect Dad or Grandad image, don't you think?
I coloured it with my trusty promarkers.
The papers are from 2 stacks, MME Stella Rose - Gertie, and BG Basic Kraft.

The Saturdays and our fab guest designer for April, Maria Therese, have made a lovely collection of cards to inspire you this week, why don't you stop by the blog and take a look?

Thanks for looking, I hope you all have a fab weekend xx

Saturday 7 April 2012

Paula's sketch

Good Morning :)
Saturday morning means a new sketch at Sketch Saturday and this week I get to play with a sketch that has been made by one of The Saturdays, and this week is the turn of the lovely Paula :)
This week we are sponsored by Tiddly Inks, and if you are our challenge winner this week, you could treat yourself to a $10 shopping spree in the Tiddly Inks store :)

I wanted to use a Tiddly Ink image this week, so treated myself to Wryn - Birthday Girl...

I coloured Wryn with promarkers, and doodled onto the gifts for a bit of added interest.
I sponged the background behind Wryn. The patterned papers are from my Kanban male backgrounds cd, except that I colourised the 2 designs in my paint program to make them pink.
The sentiment is handwritten, but the '21' is stamped from a SeeD's set, and I finished with Marianne swirls, punched flowers, pearlised mini plastic flowers and crystals.

For more delightful cards, please go see what the Saturdays have made this week, and we have a new guest designer, Maria Therese, who will be with us thoughout April :)

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly - Anything goes
Little Miss Muffet - Spring colours (pastels)
Prairie Fairy Fridays - Anything goes

Thanks for stopping by, have a great Easter weekend and bank holiday :)

Saturday 31 March 2012

for Laura

It's the start of the Easter holidays here for Jake, 2 weeks off school. So I guess we'll be playing games and doing some baking in the next fortnight :)

Today's challenge at Sketch Saturday is sponsored by our friends at The Craft Barn who are providing another fabulous prize for our lucky challenge winner this week.

My daughter, Laura, will be 21 on the 1st of May. This is her birthday card from me and her Dad using this weeks sketch, I don't think she will see it on here because she's not a visitor to my blog.

The image is called 'Sweet Blossom' and you can buy her from Wee Stamps, isn't she beautiful? I coloured her with promarkers.
The pretty papers are by First Edition, from their Hideaway collection, although the plainish piece is by Nitwit Collections.
The sentiment has been hand-drawn/written after I scribbled the same promarker colours onto a scrap piece of cardstock. I had to very carefully cut it out with a craft knife and scissors.
Finished off with flowers and crystals, using the crystals to spell '21'
Hope Laura likes it, I didn't use her fave colour (pink) but I couldn't resist these colours for this sweet image, especially for Springtime.

The Saturdays have created some beautiful cards this week, please stop by and see for yourself, this week sees the final card made by Cor, who has been such a fabulous guest designer for us throughout March, we've been lucky to have her on board, Thank you Cor! xx

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
MAWTT - Cute and Cuddly
Prairie Fairy Fridays - Spring Fling
Crafty Catz - Use a digi image

Thanks for stopping by, have a fab weekend xx

Sketch Saturday is having a special week this week, we've reached week 200, also, we are taking part in a mini DT swap with our sponsors of this weeks challenge, Bugaboo Stamps.
You could win 7 free digis if you're our challenge winner! :)

Here's my card for our week #200 sketch challenge...

I have used Gus Birthday - Recount for my card, this image was kindly given to me by Bugaboo (thank you!), I coloured Gus with promarkers.
The purple striped paper is by Echo Park ('little girl' collection), and the mosaic purple paper is by Provocraft (tags, bags & boxes paper pack for the cricut).
I drew the word 'GRUMPS' and also the liquorice allsorts and coloured them with pm's.
This card was made for my Dad. My daughter gave this to her Grandad for his birthday, my kids all call him Grumps. His fave sweets are allsorts, or Bonties as we call them, Jake couldn't say Bertie Bassett when he was little and used to say Bonty Bassetts and the name has stuck.

Pencil icon missing?

You can't 'Quick Edit' anymore?
Has the little pencil icon gone from your blog?
Do you need to go to edit via your dashboard now?

It seems that Blogger has decided to change our blog addresses for us *roll eyes*

My blog WAS siggi-shop.blogspot.com but now it's siggi-shop.blogspot.co.uk

all my links seem to work and go back to my blog, BUT the url is redirected by blogger automatically so that the .co.uk address is in my address bar.
It has happened in other countries around the world too where there urls now end with their own country's redirect.

Dunno how long it will be before blogger bring all the icons back, but if you change the last bit of your new address url from .co.uk to .com/ncr  you will see the pencil return so you don't have to keep clicking to edit your post via the dashboard.

incidently ncr stands for no country redirect (i think)

Here's my card for this weeks challenge:

This card has been made for my friend's husband, the image is 'Beer Bear' from Di's Digi Downloads, and has been coloured with promarkers.
The Papers are by Nitwit, they were in my stash, and were free in a craft mag sometime last year I think, it has been quite a while ago.
I sponged all the edges and used my torn edge scissors to distress the piece under the image.
I stamped the letters to spell out his name, then coloured them with the same colours used on the image before carefully cutting them out and adding them to the card. The sentiment is handwritten.

Please drop by the blog to go see what our talented GD Cor* and The Saturdays have made this week! :)
