Mother's Day cards.

These are the cards that I made this year for my Mom.

I used the outline stamps from Peony Bouquet by Altenew, stamped with old paper distress ink, then coloured them with promarkers.
The spotty paper is by Dovecraft, Back to Basics (Baby Steps)
I used the largest die from Spellbinders 'Elegant Ovals', which has a sentiment is from DigiStamp Boutique printed on to it. MOM was die-cut using By the Letter dies (Die-namics)

Here's the card that Jake gave to his Nan...

I used the floral stamps from 'Gift of Love' by Stampin Up, adding a little more shading with promarkers.
The heart is a Marianne die (CR1225), stamped with a sentiment from a LOTV stamp set (digi version HERE), and NAN added using alphabet dies by Tattered Lace.
The stripy paper is by Dovecraft, Back to Basics (Bright Spark)

Stippled Blossoms for 2 special birthdays.

I was asked today to make cards for 2 ladies celebrating special birthdays over the next week.
Time was against me a little, because these needed to be done quickly so that there is time for them to be signed by all the staff where we work.
I decided to get out my SU Stippled Blossoms set again, and do the same card but in 2 different colour ways.
Here's the results...

I stamped the design on inside of each card to match, using the more detailed stamp of the set. I've seen this done before and really liked the resulting 'backing paper', and i'm really happy with how they both turned out.

Only wish that I'd realised that i'd run out of lilac/purple gems BEFORE I stamped and stuck it all down!

I stamped the flowers and leaves using Memento dew drop inks.
The colours used for the pink card were Angel Pink & Rose Bud, and for the purple were Lulu Lavender & Grape Jelly, The leaves for both cards were stamped using Pistachio & Olive Grove.

Hopefully they'll like their cards.

I'm entering the challenges at:

Clearly Besotted Love Quotes

I was rummaging through my stamp sets the other day, and found one that I haven't used for quite a while... Love Quotes by Clearly Besotted Stamps.
Here's a couple of cards that I've made using it...

I stamped the flowers using Memento inks, then cut them out using the matching dies.
The background was made using a wood grain stamp from Kaisercraft, and a script stamp from Imagination Crafts.
The sentiment is from Stampin Up's 'Bring on the cake' stamp set.
............

This simple card used papers that are all from the same pad by Lawn Fawn (Let's Polka in the Meadow), and the sentiment stamp is from an old set by All Night Media.

Thanks for looking, have a great weekend xx

Wedding couple

Here's a quick wedding card, using Lili of the Valley's Wedding Couple stamp...

I coloured the image with Promarkers, then fussy cut it out.
The papers used are both from Lawn Fawn, but different pads; Let's Polka in the Meadow, and Pint-sized Patters (Beachside).
I've used the 'Mr & Mrs' die, which is from Sara Davies' Signature Collection, Together Forever.
The pretty wavy border is a Marianne border die (wave).
I finished the card with punched flowers (SU's boho blossoms) which have silver flat back pearls added the centre of each one.

And now, 2 for Laura's birthday!

Our youngest daughter is celebrating her birthday today.
This first card is the one I made for Laura from her dad & me...

I used the same 'Donut Worry' stamp set (by Lawn Fawn) that I used for Emma's card from Jake.
I used the co-ordinating die too.
I coloured the donuts with promarkers, added glossy accents to the icing, and raised them on foam pads to add to the 'box', which has no sides, it's just a strip of patterned paper, scored and folded, with a window cut out using an oblong die. I added acetate behind the window, then re-inforced the paper with card so that the lid could be opened too.

Sentiment: computer generated.
Papers: Stampin Up 'sweet always' dsp (retired); Carta Bella 'its a girl'.
Dies: Lawn Fawn 'donut worry' Lawn Cuts; Spellbinders oblong; Spellbinders D-lites 'victoria corner'.
Other: Glossy Accents; acetate; funky foam (for dimension), small heart punch; clear Wink of Stella.

I'd like to enter this at:
In The Pink - birthday
Seize the Birthday - Anything goes

and here's her card that I made for Jake to give to her...

I used Mama Elephant's Little Cat Agenda stamp set for this one, again, colouring the images with promarkers.
I stamped Happy Birthday (Inkadinkado) above, and die cut 'Sister' for beneath the kitties, they looked to plain though so doodled on them with a white gel pen, and now I think they look too busy!

Paper: Doodlebug 'hello sunshine'.
Dies: Dienamics By the Letter; Paper Smooches 'dots and dashes'; party banner die.
Other: Funky foam (for dimension), Clear Wink of Stella; Uni-Ball Signo white gel pen.

I didn't stamp the leaves from the same set on this occasion, opting instead to use an ash leaf punch by Woodware.

FTHS sketch challenge #162

Another Monday rolls around, and with it a new I {heart}sketches challenge for From The Heart Stamps :)
Here's sketch #162...

The twist is 'Snow Day', and there is also an option of using the colour palette shown above the sketch, if you wish to use them. So you can choose the sketch, the twist, the colours... or have a go at all 3 if you'd like to!
One lucky challenger will win 2 images of their choice from the store :)
Remember though, you must use an image by From The Heart Stamps to be eligible for the random draw, and please include a pic of the sketch in your blog post too. Thanks :)

Here's my card, made for my best friend's hubby, whose birthday is at the end of the month...

I rotated the sketch clockwise by 90 degrees, and used the colours option too. Yes, even the red, there's a teeny weeny bit on the beer bottles.
This fab image is from Hamlet PigWit Cold Suds. I used promarkers to colour him.
I got inky fingers with my distress inks to create the gradient background, then stamped the beer mug image over top, which is from the 'Cheers to You' stamp set by Stampin Up.  I used Faded Jeans, Weathered Wood, and Tumbled Glass distress inks.
The striped paper is from a Bazzill Basics pad called Dino-mite.
For the sentiment, I wanted to use a font with a more handwritten look to it for this card, so 'cheers' is actually from Birdbrain Brew.
However, you do get 7 sentiments to use with your choice of the 4 images also provided, which is an absolute bargain, and a 'must have' set for your male cards.
Just look at Hamlet's little face as he anticipates slurping on his favourite tipple! Maybe I should have drawn his tongue hanging out too lol ;)

RJ's 2nd birthday

Where have those last 2 years gone?!
Our darling little grandson, Richard, is 2 today :)
Here are his cards, the first one made for uncle Jake to give him...

This is Freddie, I absolutely LOVE this image, it reminded me of RJ the moment I saw it.
I coloured the image with promarkers, and teamed it up with Dino-mite papers by Bazzill Basics.
'nephew' was cut from this die...
Reindeer Names

I cut out the letters that I needed, and used the 'm' for the 'w'.
The number 2 was cut using a Die-namics die (By the numbers).

I'd like to enter 'Freddie' at:
I love Promarkers - anything goes

UPDATE 20/10/16:
Thank you so much for choosing my card :)

https://seizethebirthday.blogspot.co.uk/2016/10/winners_20.html

And here is his card from us...

Can you tell what his favourite film is? My daughter has lost count of the times that she's sat and watched it with him. To infinity..and beyond! ;)
I paper pieced the card, adding the shirt pattern and the cow print with markers.
'Grandson' is a Crafts Too die, I used the same number die as before, and 'RJ' was cut using a free alphabet die from a craft magazine. I used one of the flowers from SU's Boho Blossoms punch for the stirrups on the boots. The star punch is also by Stampin Up. I finished the shirt with Tattered Lace buttons.

Looking forward to seeing the birthday boy later today for his tea party :)
My daughter has made his cake, her first ever make, I think she has done a superb job!

Thanks for looking.

Mom's birthday.

Today is my Mom's birthday :)

This is the card I've made for her...

I die cut 'Dainty Flowers' by Paper Smooches, and coloured in the insert pieces with my promarkers, and gave them a bit of sparkle with a clear glitter brush pen, but left the outline white.
I glued the flowers onto their mats (Spellbinders 'Decagons'), then used a few hearts from 'Heart of Hearts' (Impression Obsession) to fill the space above the central flower.
The embossing folder is by Sizzix (Candy Hearts), and 'mother' is a Clearly Besotted Stamps word die.

Here is the card that I made for my son to give his nan...

I have CASE'd this beautiful card by Diane Zechman, although I haven't used the bright colours she used.

I used Stampin Up's 'Vintage Vogue' stamp set, using some (very) old stampin spots in Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, & Old Olive. I grabbed some old stampin up cardstock to match too.
I added some flat-back pearls to the centre of each flower.
'NAN' was cut using free dies from a craft magazine.

Whisky chicks

Hello friends,
It's time for a little mid-week inspiration for From The Heart Stamps.
And this time i've merged 2 images from different sets, just the birdbrains from Martini Chicks, and the wine glass from Photo Ham PigWit...

Martini Chicks    Photo Ham PigWit

And here's my card...

I started by opening the wine glass png image (transparent image) into my paint program on the computer. I rotated the image to make it vertical, then copied it 2 more times so that I had 3 glasses clustered together. I erased the glass stems so that I just had the main glasses parts together.
I opened up the wf.png image (white-filled transparent image) from Martini Chicks and pasted the image on a new layer over top of the glasses. I erased the martini glasses from around the birds, leaving me to adjust the bird layer to get it to sit right with the glasses behind.
I added the sentiment above the images, typing my own version of the one in the set by changing the word 'Martini' to 'Grouse', as the recipient of this card drinks Famous Grouse whisky.
Finally, I merged the layers and printed it out to colour with my promarkers.
The patterned paper is by Doodlebug (Sugar Shoppe), and I framed it with SU's eyelet border punch with cerise card stock. I used the same card stock to die cut her name CAL (Carole) which I brushed afterwards with a clear glitter brush pen.
'happy birthday' was stamped using SU's Bring on the Cake stamp set.

Don't forget there's still time to join in our current sketch challenge. You can take your pick of 4 sketches provided.
At the moment, we are playing just for fun until Faith is fully recovered.
We would still love it if you'd continue to join in each week though, after all, crafting is indeed, fun!

My first 'Planter Box' card

I've been wanting to make a card like this for a while, and so I decided to make one for my friend's birthday...

I don't have a wood effect stamp (yet) so drew onto kraft card stock with a sandstone Promarker instead so that it didn't look to plain.
The flowers are stamped with Memento inks using SU's 'Vintage Vogue' stamp set. I added punched stamens to the larger flowers then added a crystal gem to the centre of all the flowers.
The leaves were also punched out.
The main sentiment is from an old sheet by Kanban (I think).
Anita's name was added using a Tattered Lace alphabet die.

The card collapses flat so that it fits inside an envelope and can be posted easily.

Baby cards

Heres a few cards made for new arrivals...

This first card was handcut using a dl card blank, to resemble a baby's bottle...

I covered the front with patterned paper (Nitwit, country meadow), then used a crimper to make the neck part of the bottle.
'baby' was cut using a Clearly Besotted Stamps word die, and 'GIRL' cut using Die-namics dies.
I finished the card with some organza ribbon.
I will add the baby's name as a little tag off the ribbon once she is born.
I'd like to enter this card Craft Your Passion's anything goes challenge.

This next card also uses that baby word die...

This time, I teamed the word die with the precious sentiment and image also from Clearly Besotted Stamps, Little Onesie. I stamped the onesie image twice, onto both plain and polka dot paper, so that I could paper piece it.
I'd like to enter this card at Less Is More (polka dots)

And following on from the Little Onesie set, I used the 'precious' sentiment on this card too...

I also stamped the word Granddaughter using a couple of stamps from the For Everyone stamp set, also by Clearly Besotted Stamps, but sadly not available anymore.
The image is from DigiStamp Boutique, called Baby Chicklet, and is coloured with promarkers. I added a couple of sequins and some pearls too. Then framed the image using a Nellie Snellen die.
The striped paper is really old, it's a dsp from a Stampin Up collection called Sweet Always.
I finished the card with a punched heart coated with glossy accents, punched & sponged flowers and punched gold shimmer-vellum leaves.
I'd like to enter this card in DigiStamp Boutique's monthly customer competion for March, also, The Ribbon Girl's any image challenge, and finally, the spring flowers challenge over at In The Pink.

Thanks for looking xx

Beautiful Vintage Roses

I LOVE Vintage Roses by Altenew.
It's such a lovely set to use, producing beautiful, realistic flowers.

I was asked to make a card for a 60th birthday...

This card took a while to do as I don't have the matching dies yet, so had to cut the flowers and leaves by hand, then I sponged the edges of each piece, before deciding on my placement.

Recipe:
I used Memento Dew Drop inks.
Flowers - dandelion, canteloupe, tangelo & potters clay. Leaves - new sprout, pistachio & bamboo leaves.
Papers - LOTV (Nitwit) 'Country Meadow'.
Diecut - trellis die by Clearly Besotted Stamps, & Die-namics 'By The Number' dies.
Punch - eyelet border by Stampin Up.
Sentiment - 'Bring on the cake' stamp set by Stampin Up (stamped onto vellum and heat embossed with gold EP).
Gold glitter washi tape, flat back pearls, and clear wink of stella on roses.

I'm entering this card at:

Hope you all have a great weekend xx

Mother's Day cards

Here are the 2 mother's day cards that were given to my mom yesterday.

The first uses my newest stamps and inks...

I've used Vintage Roses stamp set by Altenew, with Memento Dew Drop inks.
I did put a little of clear Wink of Stella on the roses, though you can't see that here.
The sentiment was stamped (badly) with an old stamp that I bought years ago. It has a floral border around it but I chose to use an SU marker to just colour the sentiment in the middle. It didn't stamp very clearly so I went over it with the same marker, then wrote Mom underneath.

I'm entering this card at:
Stamping Sensations - Flower Power
Crafty Calendar - Mum's Day/Special Female
MAWTT - Purple Haze

And here is the card that I made for my son to give to his nan for mother's day...

I've used Lili of the Valley's Posy Trio for this card, coloured with promarkers.
The text background paper was free with a craft mag some time ago.
I've used my SU eyelet border punch for some pretty edges, and Die-namics 'By The Letter' dies for nan.
Happy Mother's Day sentiment was printed off the pooter.

I'm entering this card at:
In The Pink - Special Lady
Cardz 4 Galz - woman or women
ABC - C is for Cute
Passion for Promarkers - Girls Only
Whimsy Challenges - Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday - Mother's Day

Stamping florals

Last week I treated myself to 2 new stamp sets, well actually one of the sets was an old set by Stampin Up that i've always wanted & I found it for sale on ebay and just had to buy it while I had the chance.
The other set is a new by Altenew, called Vintage Roses. I've been dying to get my inky mitts on this set, it sells out so quickly. Infact, it's out of stock now from where I bought mine.

First the Stampin Up card, the set is called Vintage Vogue...

I die cut the card base using the largest die from Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles set.
I stamped and cut out the flowers and leaves as I wanted the card to have a little dimension.
I used some old SU inks, lavender lace & mellow moss.
'friend' was cut using a word die by Clearly Besotted, and I finished the card with some sequins for a bit more texture and added sparkle.
This card is for a friend who will celebrate her birthday on Thursday.

I'm entering this card at:
Craft Your Passion - anything goes
Less is more - add some texture
Sweet Stampin - glitter & sparkle

and here is the Altenew card...

I kept this one simple too, again, using old SU inks. This time I used pretty in pink, regal rose, bravo burgundy, mellow moss, & always artichoke. I used pastel beige & satin promarkers to colour around the stamped images.
The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted, and was from a free set in a craft mag.
I added a bit of wink of stella (clear) to the roses after they had dried, which I know is always hard to capture in a photo, but looks so lovely in real life.
I die cut the dotty border using a die from Paper Smooches Dots & Dashes die set.
Simply layered with pink card stock, another piece of card stock coloured with bravo burgundy ink, and then glued to a card front.
I'm giving this card to my friend's mother, who also celebrates her birthday on Thursday.

I'm entering this card at:
The Ribbon Girl - February card challenge
Brown Sugar Challenges - anything goes
Allsorts - birthday wishes

Thanks for looking, have a great weekend :) xx
