Mothers Day card

This is the card my son will give to my Mom this Sunday...

This pretty bowl of flowers is by DigiStamp Boutique, (Mother's Day set 2).
The backing paper is from a pad called 'Fabrications' by Teresa Collins. The pad was a magazine freebie sometime last year.
'Nan' was cut using Die-namics dies (By the Letter), and the kraft frame behind the image was cut with a Marianne die.
Both the sentiment and the love word die were bought from Clearly Besotted Stamps. Can you see that I added a bit of glitter to 'love'. I just got my first order from CBS, and I'm really impressed, delivery was very fast, and was securely packaged. Inside, my order was wrapped in pretty pink tissue paper too. They obviously care about their customers :)  I'll be ordering again, I want some of the word dies that are currently out of stock and I'm hoping that they'll be re-stocked soon.

I'd like to enter this card at:

Holly Jolly Christmas

Now don't panic, I know Christmas has a tendancy to just creep up on you, but yes it is still March, only just, but still March. There's a little under 9 months to go before the big day ;)

You may know by now that I have a soft spot for the Birdbrains by From The Heart Stamps.
Well I bought this a few weeks ago and have been itching to colour it up...

This is (as my blog title suggests) Holly Jolly Christmas. The tree cracks me up! :D
This weeks challenge over at I {heart} sketches gives us another fab layout to use...

I thought it would be great for a christmas card base, and gave me the opportunity to get my pens out on this Birdbrain.
The papers are both by Lawn Fawn (Peace, Joy, Love).
I used a Marianne Die and some little flat-back crystals for the mat behind the image.

That's my first Christmas card for 2014 in the bag! ;)
Thanks for looking xx

Blooming lovely

Here's another Mother's Day card I have been asked to make.
I've used another image from DigiStamp Boutique, this one is from the Blooming Lovely set; Blooming flowers...

I wanted to keep this card quite clean and simple, so this weeks lovely sketch provided by Papertake Weekly fitted the bill perfectly for this card.
No patterned papers were used, I wanted the flowers to really stand out from this card.
The pale pink piece was embossed using a Swiss Dots folder.
I wanted something to edge the dark pink piece, but didn't want to add a border punch, so decided just to paper pierce each side instead.
The sentiment is computer generated.

I'd like to enter this card at:

For You, Quacky

Last week I made a card using Birthday Quacky from DigiStamp Boutique.
Well Quacky is such a cute little character, that I wanted to use For You Quacky for a Mothers Day card that I've been asked to make...

I've coloured the image with promarkers and added some finer detail with SU markers. The sky was sponged in with a light touch of SU Bashful Blue ink.
The sentiment is also a DSB one, from Mother's Day set 2.
Both of these spotty papers are from the same MME pad (Lime Twist; Life of the Party)
I wanted the die cut flowers (Die-namics flower and leaf trio die) to look similar to the one i'd coloured in the image so they got the same treatment with my markers.
The leaves and fronds are all Marianne dies, and 'Mom' has been cut using Die-namics By the Letter dies.

Quacky is going to the parties at:
DigiStamp Boutique - March customer competition

SUPER Bro!

It's Little Miss Muffet time!
The challenge starting today is an easy peasy one...Anything Goes.
Have you seen the image i've used? No, it's not a new Polka Dot Pal image.
I asked for permission from Barbara if I could use 2 different PDP's to make this super hero because I wanted the image to have a different hair style.
Thank you Barbara, for allowing me to do this xx

So here he is, I have put Andy's head on Toby's body.

and here are the boys as they are in the shop...

PDP Andy PDP Toby

You can see all of the Polka Dot Pals range by clicking HERE.

IMPORTANT: ALWAYS ask for permission from the copyright holder BEFORE altering any image(s).

Saying that, if you would like to do this yourself with other PDP's, Barbara will allow you to, but please respect her Terms of Use, as doing so is strictly for personal use only, you cannot claim the altered image as your own.
Barbara enjoys seeing your creativity flow when using her images, but if you do have any questions please use the Contact Us form available on the store.

For my card, I opened up the Andy and Toby images in PSP (painshop pro). I used the png images, as they have no background, or white space, behind them.
I duplicated the Toby image so as not to accidently alter the original.
Next, I used the freehand tool to 'draw' around Andy's head,  then I copied and pasted the head as a new layer onto the Toby image. I then closed both my original images so that I only had the duplicated image in my workspace. I moved the head until it was in the correct position, once happy with that, I erased Toby's head from his layer, tidied up both images so that they looked like one, then merged the 2 layers and it's ready to print out and colour up :)
Alternatively, I could have just printed both images and used scissors to make the change, haha!

I've used papers that I bought years ago, they are that old that I can't remember the name of the pad nor the company they came from, and the front cover has long gone. I liked the sketchy look to them though and thought they would look good.
The sentiment is computer generated, then I hand cut the layers it's sitting on.
A few punched stars finished the card off nicely.

You can see more loveliness by visiting the other Little Misses over at  the challenge blog or on our facebook group.
We hope that you'll join us for this challenge.
Happy Crafting!

Little Miss Muffet Stamps has released 5 images today :)
One digi, PDP Queta, and 4 in rubber. 2 of these rubber stamps, Jr Hatter Lilith and PDP Lottie, have previously only been available as digis.
You can find them all HERE.

And here's a card i've made using one of the new release images; Spencer's Ship...

I've used Echo Park papers here ('Splash' paper pack). The checked piece has had a 'porthole' cut out of it and has been raised on foam pads. The porthole itself was made with silver mirror card and card candi.
The sentiment is hand written.

I'm entering Spencer at :
Passion for Promarkers - Monochrome
Crafty Catz - bling it up (does the mirror card /candi count?)

Thanks for looking xx

A person to annoy

It's my parent's wedding anniversary today, they've been married 49 years!
Here's our card to them...

I've used an image from Bugaboo; Stella Love - Person to Annoy.
It's a great image, although if I had to have one criticism, I do wish that I could find images where the elderly gentleman has hair, not everyone over 60 is bald. My Dad looks great for 71 and still has his own hair...his teeth however, are a different matter! ha!!
The sentiment is from Bugaboo too, but is with a different image that can be found HERE
My papers are by Basic Grey; Life of the Party (wood effect) and Prima; Forever Young (patterned).
Now I'm not too keen on the layout for this card if i'm honest, it looked soooo much better in my head. But once it's stuck down, it's done.

I'd like to enter this card at:
Digi Galore - Anything goes

Dorothea

We have inspirational cards to show you this week over at Little Miss Muffet.
I decided that I wanted to use some texture this week, so I chose to use one of  the Jr Hatter images released a couple of weeks ago because the character is holding a cuddly toy.
This is Jr Hatter Dorothea...

Can you guess what movie I thought of when I first saw this image? lol
Originally, I wanted to keep Dorothea's little stuffed horse, white, and I wanted to draw a horn on it's head too! ;)

My daughter has a dolls house that she's gradually decorating room by room, and a while back she gave me some pieces of sticky backed 'carpet' that she had left over.
I thought it was about time I used some of it and Dorothea's little friend made me think that using an image with a cuddly toy on it would go perfectly with using some of this carpet.
I used a scalloped circle die to cut out the piece behind Dorothea, oooh it's really soft :)
I put the carpet over top of the card base, which had been embossed with a Cuttlebug Heritage folder first, then added the Stampin Up 'Sweet Always' paper strips at the bottom of the card, i'm guessing that this dsp has been discontinued now, as I bought mine years ago. I'm using strips here taken from my scraps tub.
Once I had the layout finished and had cut out Dorothea, I realised that a sandy coloured horse would look better than a white unicorn so that the carpet ties in with the card's design a little better (Emma didn't have any white carpet, or else it would definately have become a unicorn). So I got out my promarkers to colour it in.
The sentiment, as you probably guessed, is computer generated.

Thanks for looking, please check out what the other Little Misses have made by visiting our blog and our Facebook group too.
If you want to join in our current challenge which is Doilies and Lace, please click HERE. You have until Tuesday to enter.

Birdbrain Graduate

I'm here with a new Birdbrain, well actually there's 2 new ones, and you can get one of them for free when you buy any other digi image. Details HERE.
I combined my Birdbrain image with the new sketch over at From The Heart...

http://fromtheheartstamps.com/community/2014/03/17/i-heart-card-sketches-w-a-twist-no-58/

And here is my card using this sketch, as you can see I've rotated it...

This image is Birdbrain Graduate. I tried to stay as monochromatic as I could, but added the splash of deep yellow for a contrast. The sentiment is one of five that you get free with the image :)
The dotty paper is by Lawn Fawn (Peace, Joy, Love).
I didn't have any dark grey or black pieces of card long enough to go diagonally across this card so I inked up a white piece with a Basic Gray inkpad from SU, and then layered that onto another piece that had the edges coloured with the same promarker that I used in the image.
There's room at the top of this card to add the recipient's name before giving it to them.

I'd like to enter this card at:

Passion for Promarkers - Monochrome

Nights in white satin

A great song, but that's not the reason for my post's title, bear with me, all will become clear ;)

The other day I had the opportunity to choose a digital kit by Bella Gypsy Designs, thanks to a Facebook contest where all we needed to do was link up to a kit we'd like to receive for free.
I was one of the lucky winners! and received this beautiful kit; Moody Blues...

http://scraporchard.com/market/Moody-Blues-Digital-Scrapbook-Kit.html

Moody blues / Nights in white satin... gerrit? ;)

This is such a beautiful kit don't you think? I just love the powder blues and dark greys together, very elegant.

Well, i've had a play...

I love these papers already.
The image is a new one from DigiStamp Boutique, Birthday Quacky. What a cutie!
The pretty bottom edge has been punched using my SU eyelet border punch.
I found the blue sheer ribbon in my ribbons tub, and I thought it would look great with these papers. I should have tied my bow a bit neater though eh? lol

Quacky is off to the parties at:
DigiStamp Boutique - March competition
Tuesday Morning Sketches - sketch #241
Crafting By Designs - use ribbon
Digi Galore - Anything goes

Happy Wednesday everyone!, i'll be back later with another card :)

Scooter's Buddies...

...That's the name of this image. I bought it before Paula closed Pollycraft's doors for the final time :(
Glad I got the image though, but I don't know why it's taken me so long to colour this one up...

I've used promarkers as is usual for me. I chose colours to compliment the papers which are by Bella Gypsy (The Last Key). I printed them onto card stock though to get more stability as I've used a cArt-Us die to cut out the frame behind the image.
The sentiment is from Paper Smooches, from the Sentiment Sampler set.
I've cut flowers with my Die-namics flower and leaf trio die. Then added a bit of bling to the centre of each one.

I'd like to enter Scooter and his buddies at:
Digi Galore - Anything goes
Stampin for the Weekend - Anything goes
Lexi's Creations - Punches and dies

Woohoooo!

I have news to share... :)
http://fromtheheartstamps.com/community/

I'm delighted to announce that I'm going to be a guest designer over at From The Heart Stamps for April and May :)
How cool is that eh?!
I'm very lucky to have been chosen, and can't wait to get started :)

HUGE thanks to Faith and the Design team for choosing me xx

Bobbi and Flowers

When I was asked to make a Mothers Day card which is to be given by a toddler, I wanted a cute baby looking image, but not TOO babyish. Bobbi is perfect...

This is Bobbi and Flowers from DigiStamp Boutique, coloured with promarkers and fussy cut out (I didn't include the butterflies).
As the card will be given by a little boy, I decided to go with blue. I still have some SU Bashful Blue papers left so thought they'd be ideal as they are still pretty and feminine too.
I punched the edges with the SU scalloped punch and die cut a scalloped circle for the dotty piece behind Bobbi. The sentiment is computer generated.

Bobbi is being entered at:
DigiStamp Boutique - March competition
Digi Galore - Anything Goes
Sweet Stampin - Mothers Day or Special Lady
Sentimental Sundays - Cute and Cuddly

Thanks for looking, hope you've had / are having a great weekend xx

Glitter Girl!

Happy Birthday Faye xx

ooooh she can throw the glitter around like a pro! ;)
This new Polka Dot Pals image is named Faye and is in the store now, specially designed by Barbara to celebrate Faye's special day today, and for all us Little Misses to let her know how much we love her and appreciate her. Thanks for all you do Faye! xx
And thank you to Barbara for creating such a perfect image for us to use today :) xx

I have coloured Faye, the PDP, not the real Fluffster (that would be silly!), with my promarkers, and added extra details with SU markers and a white gel pen. I thought Faye would look good splashing around in the glitter, wearing pink, daisy patterned wellies, so I drew on the daisies with pens after colouring in the base colour.
Now I just had to use glitter on my card didn't I?, Barbara had already drew the glitter for us, so I coloured it in and then added SU dazzling diamonds over top. I also added glitter around her feet, and used pale yellow glitter card stock here and there too.
The patterned papers are all from a collection that I know Faye loves too; Echo Park's, Beautiful Life.

You can see what the other Little Misses have made with this fab image (and leave a birthday message for Faye if you would like to) by visiting the LMM blog or our Facebook page.

Faye is going to the parties at:
Passion for Promarkers - butterfly kisses (hope butterfly patterned paper counts)
I {heart} Promarkers - let's get spotty

Fancy a cupcake?

We have a new challenge for you over at Little Miss Muffet today.
We want to see you use doilies and lace please.
Now, I don't use doilies on my cards, I think i've only ever used one once before, and very rarely do I use lace or ribbons either, so this challenge had me a little stumped on how to design my card for today.
One thing I was sure about was that cakes, cream teas etc go hand in hand with doilies, so there was one image that popped into my head straight away; Cupcake Surprise...only here i've used it without the surprise bit! ;)

Mmmmm, chocolate and vanilla buttercream, shall I switch the kettle on? ;)
I've used Echo Park's Beautiful Life papers for this card, the tickets are also from the same collection, I printed them all onto card stock to make them sturdier. Then I pierced the holes to make the tickets look more realistic.
My mom gave me some doilies a few years back, I didn't know if i'd ever use them at the time but I kept them anyway (like most crafters do). The cotton lace at the bottom of my card is a scrap from my ribbons tub, and was just the right size to go across the card :)

To see what the other Little Misses have made with their doilies and lace, please pop over to the challenge blog.

Guesting at Crafting By Designs :)

Today i'm showing you a card i've made for the new Crafting By Designs challenge, because I'm delighted to have been asked to be their guest designer this week! Thank you ladies :)
This week's challenge theme is 'Things with Wings' and is being sponsored by Sami Stamps.
Here is my card...

I've used Jr Hatter Lilith from Little Miss Muffet Stamps for my card, this little cutie loves her feathered friends :)
I've gone for some soft colours for this card., and I really like how it turned out.
The paper is by Melissa Frances (Classic Elegance - Bits of Paper)
The branches were cut using a Marianne die. The seam binding and string of pearls were from my ribbons tub, and are perfect for this colour theme.

I do hope you'll join in with this great challenge. For more inspiration, check out what the talented design team and other guest designers have made this week.

You can also enter a card in the month long challenge for March too. The theme is Anything Goes, simples! :)

Think Spring

I'm using From The Heart's stamp of the month for March on this card; Hamlet PigWit Think Spring.
You actually get 2 stamps this month (cool eh?) I used the daffodil image for my card today.

I've used my usual promarkers to colour up Hamlet and his little butterfly friend.
The sentiment is by Paper Smooches (sentiment sampler set) , and the paper is by Prima, from a pad called Believe.
I bought a new top out of my birthday money last week, and have cut out the ribbon that was inside across the neck, as those things annoy me, however, they don't annoy me when they are wrapped across cards ;)

I'd like to enter this card at:
From The Heart - March SOTM challenge
Cute Card Thursday - what a gem
Totally Papercrafts - female birthday

Thanks for looking :) x

Pig out!

There's a new sketch challenge today over at the From The Heart blog...

http://fromtheheartstamps.com/community/2014/03/10/i-heart-card-sketches-w-a-twist-no-57/

I've been meaning to use Hamlet PigWit Pig Out since I bought him last month, and he's been sitting on my desk coloured up, all ready to go on a card. I liked the idea of the sketch's twist being dry embossing, and I have a new folder that has swirls, perfect to give the impression of piped buttercream. Mmmm!
Here's my card...

The swirly embossing folder that I mentioned is from a pack of 4 folders by Cuttlebug (Heritage Companions set)
The striped paper is by Paper Cellar (wedding collection)
I stamped the birthday greeting from SU's Fun & Fast Notes stamp set, and used my SU eyelet border punch to make the pretty edge.

As well as the I (heart} sketches challenge, I'd like to enter Hamlet at:
Cute Card Thursday - what a gem
Totally Papercrafts - female birthday

I have another Hamlet card to show you, watch this space! ;)

Sketch Saturday has its 300th challenge today!
WOW! that's an achievement eh? :)
As one the original Saturday Girls, I was asked if i'd like to be their Guest Designer for this momentous occasion. Of course, I said YES!  and not only that, my first ever sketch gets an airing too, although it has had a bit of a facelift, but then I would need one too if I reached 300! lol...
Obviously the new sketch is the one on the right. And here's my card using it...

The image is Birthday Candle Birdbrain, by From The Heart Stamps. I think that this is one of my favourite images right now, it's such a lovely image to colour. As usual, i've used promarkers here.
The papers used are both from MME's life of the party pad.
The pretty border is a cArt-Us die (fountain).

This weeks sketch is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp, who are offering a very generous $25 gift certificate for the lucky challenge winner.

Larry has been coloured with promarkers.

Birdbrain Brew

I've been colouring Birdbrains again! :)

This image is called Birdbrain Brew (in case you didn't guess from my post title lol)
The patterned paper is another sheet from Prima's Believe paper pad.
The 'happy birthday' sentiment is by Paper Smooches (sentiment sampler set) and the chocolate chip stitched ribbon is a piece I found in my ribbons tub from years ago, it was bought originally from Stampin Up, not sure if they do this ribbon anymore though.

I'd like to enter this card in From The Hearts' I {heart} sketches challenge, although this one doesn't follow the sketch, I have used the twist (stitching).
If you want to take part too,  here's the sketch...

http://fromtheheartstamps.com/community/2014/03/03/i-heart-card-sketches-w-a-twist-no-56/

I'm also entering this card at:
Paper Makeup - anything goes

The Pink Elephant - birthday
Crafts Galore Encore - use a stamp or digi stamp

Daffodils

I love daffodils, they are my favourite flower, they are a national flower of Wales and an emblem for St David's Day (1st March).
I'm not Welsh, although my Grandmothers family do originally come from Wales, but I was born on St David's Day so i've always associated daffodils with my birthday too.
And right now I have 2 big vases of  beautiful daffs in my lounge and another on my kitchen window sill :)

So naturally, when I saw this image at From The Heart Stamps, it just had to be bought...

I decided to make my card using this weeks I {heart}sketches challenge.
Here's the sketch...

http://fromtheheartstamps.com/community/2014/03/03/i-heart-card-sketches-w-a-twist-no-56/

But starting this week, they are sketches with a twist. This week we are asked to add real or faux stitching.
I used the sketch AND the twist, I paper pierced around the edge of the image and dragged a white gel pen through the holes for my faux stitching.
The paper is by Prima, from a pad called Believe. The sentiment is computer generated.

I'd also like to enter this card at:
Paper Makeup - anything goes
Papertake Weekly - anything goes
Passion for Promarkers - flowers
Craft Mojo - spring flowers
Crafts Galore Encore - use a stamp or digi stamp
